The Trigger
The Tigger is the final song you'll find on Rust, and the first song I wrote about climate change. Yes, Anthropocene started the album with the raw thoughts and feelings that stirred one day, but The Trigger was written in the days of Abstract Designs. Back then, I knew climate change was an issue, and I wanted to say something about it, but I hadn't grasped how massive the issue was. The Trigger was the result. It didn't sound as good, for The Tigger was above our skillset at the time to fully bring to life, but one critical change was made by Zech that would define the song. I had written another rock song, like the rest, but Zech suggested slowing it down into something acoustic.
We had The Trigger complete, without Zach at the time, and we believed in the song, but it wasn't ready. When we finalized the six songs to record for Abstract Designs, we held off on The Trigger. And what a great decision that turned out to be. When Zach came along, he added a much needed touch. I created piano bits to add to the chorus. And when James from Veux Studios recorded the song, he found ways to add his own marks too. It's a great album closer, and we hope it'll add something to your life when you can hear it.
To wrap up our journey through Rust, this song represents hope. We can't change what the people in charge do. We can't stop the changes our planet is undergoing. But we can hope, and we will hope until the very end.
Thank you for reading these. I wanted to offer something informative and behind the scenes that offers something special for fans that find their way to our website. We'll have more to share in the future, and we hope to see you then.
